How to Remove Wax and Reuse Your Candle Jar

Love the jar from your finished candle? Let’s turn it into something new! Follow these easy steps to remove leftover wax and give your candle jar a second life. 🕯

What You’ll Need:

Boiling water (or warm soapy water)
A butter knife or spoon
Dish soap
A scrubbing sponge or cloth
Optional: Goo Gone or rubbing alcohol (for stubborn labels)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Stop Burning at the Right Time:
- For safety, make sure your candle is no longer burning and has cooled completely. Always leave about ½ inch of wax at the bottom rather than burning it all the way down.
Freeze It!
- Place the candle jar in the freezer for a few hours. The cold will shrink the wax, making it easier to pop out.
- Use a butter knife or spoon to gently lift out the wax.
Pro Tip: Don’t dig too hard to avoid scratching the jar.
Use Hot Water:
- If freezing isn’t your jam, try this method:
  - Boil some water and carefully pour it into the jar, leaving room at the top.
  - Let it sit for a few hours. The wax will melt and float to the surface as it cools. Scoop it out with a spoon.
Note: Pour leftover wax into the trash—not the sink! Wax can clog your pipes.
Tackle the Wick Base:
- The wick base is usually stuck with a bit of glue. Pry it out gently using the butter knife or spoon. If it’s stubborn, add a bit of warm soapy water to loosen the adhesive.
Clean It Up:
- Wash the jar with warm soapy water to remove any remaining residue.
- For sticky labels, soak the jar in hot water to loosen them, then scrub away. You can also use Goo Gone or rubbing alcohol for extra-sticky spots.
Dry and Repurpose:
- Dry the jar thoroughly with a clean towel, and voilà—your jar is ready for its next adventure!
